A bit about me (and my family)

A bit about me (and my family)

I love vests.  I have a wardrobe full of them.  On a recent five day trip to Maspalomas, I took 12 to last me five days, and wore every last one of them.

Let me introduce myself.  My name is Jay, and I am a bi bear.  I'm married with kids in a truly queer household - under our roof, we have people identifying as gay, lesbian, bi, pan and a wonderful woman (my wife) who is the strongest ally anyone could hope for.

The first vest I made for myself came out of an installation I look after in York - we hang rainbow umbrellas each June for Pride month, and I wanted to have a vest that matched the umbrella.  So, I took a photograph and went to a company that puts photographs on to vests.  And it looked amazing on its own, and even better when, during York Pride, it inevitably started to rain.  When I put the umbrella up, the whole look was revealed.  And people noticed - quite a few came up and asked where they could get one, but I wasn't geared up for selling, so only two more were made, for a videographer friend of mine.

Fast forward 12 months, and I want something to wear for the next year's Pride.  I am a big fan of tattoos, with a large Nordic knotwork design on my chest, and another even larger one on my back - both done by incredibly talented designers. I like to have them on display, but frankly, don't have the body to walk around shirtless in public.  So I wondered - could I possibly print my designs on a vest so that they ran smoothly from skin to vest?  It took three attempts to get the sizing and location right, but it worked - and I chose a bear flag design for it to sit on - you can see it in the pic for this page.

People loved it, and again asked me where they could get one.  These designs were produced specifically for me, and only really work on my skin, but clearly there was interest.

And that brings us to today, in early April 2026, when my family and I have been working on a host of designs that we think might appeal.  The full-vest versions of the Pride flags look stunning (and we have got soooo many flag variants - let us know if yours is missing!).  The t-shirts have wonderful captions, with ideas provided by family and friends.  We want everyone to be able to find their perfect Pride look here, so if there is something you want to see, let us know - if we can design it, we can have it made for you.

So please, have a good time browsing the site.  We'd love to hear your feedback.
